What you should know

Simple bookkeeping for businesses and the self-employed

Do you understand your accounting requirements? With Seewara, we offer a simple, transparent solution for businesses and the self-employed who want to keep track of their finances.

Who counts as a commercial enterprise?
Commercial enterprises include all companies that do not fall under the category of freelancers according to §18 EStG. This includes, for example, all commercial activities that are not exempt from the accounting obligation by law. Typical commercial enterprises are, for example, trading companies, craft businesses or limited liability companies (e.g. GmbH) that are either voluntarily or legally entered in the commercial register.

Limits for simple bookkeeping
Certain limits apply to commercial enterprises that are not required to keep accounts:

  • Turnover limit: 800,000 euros
  • Profit limit: 80,000 euros
If your business does not exceed these limits, you can use the simplified income statement (EÜR) instead of complex double-entry bookkeeping.

Self-employed persons according to Section 18 EStG
Self-employed persons who work in one of the catalogue professions are also affected by special regulations. The catalogue professions include, among others:

  • Artistic activities
  • Scientific activities
  • Teaching and writing activities
  • Educational activities
These professions are mentioned in the exhaustive list of §18 EStG and are considered to be self-employed regardless of the level of income.

Less bureaucracy, more freedom
Whether you are a tradesperson or self-employed – with our simple accounting solution, you can keep track of everything and save yourself unnecessary bureaucracy. Get in touch with us to customise your bookkeeping to your needs!

What do you actually do as a Scientist?

A scientist is a person who systematically acquires knowledge, conducts research and develops new insights in a particular field or discipline. The tasks and activities of a scientist may vary depending on the field of study, but typically include:

  1. Research: Scientists conduct scientific research to answer questions, test hypotheses and develop new theories. This may include both basic and applied research.
  2. Data analysis: They collect, analyse and interpret data to test their hypotheses and gain insights. This may involve quantitative (numerical) or qualitative (descriptive) analysis.
  3. Experimentation: In many fields of science, scientists design and conduct experiments to test their theories and observe new phenomena.
  4. Documentation: Scientists carefully record their results, create reports and documentation to make their research comprehensible.
  5. Publication: They publish their results in scientific journals or at conferences to share their knowledge with the scientific community and the public.
  6. Collaboration: Scientists often work in teams with other researchers, institutions or companies to investigate complex issues and promote interdisciplinary approaches.
  7. Presentations: They present their research results at conferences, workshops or seminars and communicate their findings to colleagues and the public.
  8. Teaching: Many scientists also work in teaching and teach at schools, colleges or universities to pass on their knowledge to students.
  9. Application of ethics: Scientists must comply with ethical standards and guidelines, especially if their research has an impact on humans, animals or the environment.
  10. Further training: They keep up to date with current developments in their field of expertise in order to expand their knowledge and to use new technologies or methods.

Overall, the work of a scientist aims to expand our understanding of natural phenomena, social structures or technical processes and thus contribute to the advancement of knowledge and society.
