Zero-knowledge encryption
SEEWARA relies on a zero-knowledge strategy to protect your data. Each client receives an individual document key that is only stored locally in their browser and is used to encrypt the documents.
This key must be securely exchanged with the accountant so that they can open the client’s documents.
Conversely, the accountant encrypts the uploaded documents with the client’s key to ensure that only the client has access to their data.
Asynchronous RSA encryption
We use an asynchronous RSA encryption to exchange keys securely. When logging in or registering for the first time, the code generates a public and a private key locally in the browser for each user.
The public key can be shared publicly and is used to encrypt information. For example, the client’s key can be encrypted with the accountant’s public key and exchanged securely.
The private key is required for decryption, which only grants access to the user.
